Comment on the proposed lease of City-owned property in Green PointComment on the proposed lease of City-owned property in Green Point<img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/CityConnectHeader.png" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><div class="ExternalClass8D581B1C56CD4B5CBE3D877E2603EFCA"><p>We are considering the lease of City-owned property in Green Point, and we want to hear from you.</p></div><span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​About​​​​​​​</h2></span> <p>In accordance with section 16.6 and 12.5 of the <a href="http://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Management%20of%20Certain%20of%20the%20City%20of%20Cape%20Towns%20Immovable%20Property%20Policy%20-%20approved%20on%2026%20August%202010.pdf" target="_blank">Management of certain of the City of Cape Town’s Immovable Property Policy </a>(adopted by Council on 26 August 2010 C54/08/10) and Chapter 4 of the Municipal Asset Transfer Regulations (2008) we are considering the lease of the following City-owned property:</p> <span> <table style="width:535px;"><thead><tr><th colspan="1">​Facility</th><th>Erf/Farm number</th><th>Extent (±Ha)​</th><th colspan="1">Street and suburb</th><th colspan="1">Current zoning</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td colspan="1">Club meeting room within Green Point Athletics Stadium</td><td>Erf 1056-RE</td><td>± 128,4 m² </td><td colspan="1">Vlei Road, Green Point</td><td colspan="1">Open Space 2, Public Open Space</td></tr></tbody></table>​​​</span> <p>We plan to lease the abovementioned property to <strong>CPUT Athletics Club</strong> for sporting purposes, in support of the surrounding communities</p><h4>Information statement</h4><ul><li> <strong>Reason: </strong>the property is not required for the provision of a minimum level of basic municipal service; </li><li> <strong>Expected benefit: </strong>the property is underutilised, surplus to Council’s requirements, no demand exist for same, and the lease will furthermore relief Council of a maintenance burden and generate funds for the City of Cape Town; </li><li> <strong>Expected proceeds: </strong>The City will receive a tariff related rental for the proposed lease for sporting purposes of R1205.22 annually (exclusive of VAT and inclusive of rates), escalating as per the City’s annually tariff for sporting facilities, for a period of five years (with a renewal option of five years), and at any time subject to six months’ notice of termination. </li><li> <strong>Expected gain or loss: </strong>no loss will be incurred by the City arising from the granting of right. </li><li> <strong>The proposed transaction included a call for alternative proposals</strong>. The call for alternatives is not limited to a single bidder and should include the proposed usage, previous experience providing sporting services to the public, running sporting programmes for the public, as well as proof of registration as a NPO or public benefit entity. <br> a.
