Comment on the proposed lease of a portion of City-owned property in WynbergComment on the proposed lease of a portion of City-owned property in Wynberg<img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/CityConnectHeader.png" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><div class="ExternalClass46D38045C97A49B2BF4ADE227092876D"><p>We are considering the lease of City-owned property in Wynberg, and we want to hear from you.</p></div><span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​​​​About​​​​​​​<br></h2></span> <p>In accordance with section 16.5 and 16.6 of the <a href="http://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Management%20of%20Certain%20of%20the%20City%20of%20Cape%20Towns%20Immovable%20Property%20Policy%20-%20approved%20on%2026%20August%202010.pdf" target="_blank">Management of certain of the City of Cape Town’s Immovable Property Policy </a>(adopted by Council on 26 August 2010 C54/08/10) and Chapter 4 of the Municipal Asset Transfer Regulations (2008) we are considering the lease of the following City-owned property:</p> <span> <table style="width:555px;"><thead><tr><th>Erf/Farm number</th><th style="width:123px;">Extent (±)​</th><th colspan="1">Street and suburb</th><th colspan="1">Current zoning</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td> Portion of Erf 66354 Cape Town</td><td style="width:123px;">±  3036 m²<br></td><td colspan="1"> Waterloo Road, Wynberg</td><td colspan="1">Open Space 2</td></tr></tbody></table>​​​</span> <p>We plan to lease the property to <strong>Simon Van Stel Primary School </strong>or its successors-in-title for social care (recreational and educational) purposes. </p><h4>Information statement<br></h4><ul><li> <strong>Reason: </strong>the properties are not required for the provision of a minimum level of basic municipal service. </li><li><strong>Expected benefit: </strong>the properties are underutilised, surplus to Council’s requirements, no demand exist for same, and the leases will furthermore relief Council of a maintenance burden and generate funds for the City of Cape Town. </li><li><strong>Expected proceeds:</strong> the city will receive a tariff related rental for the proposed lease for sporting (Recreational and educational) purposes at a tariff rental of R1 386.00 per annum inclusive of VAT, subject to any increase in terms of rental for land leased as determined from time to time by Council for a period of 10 years, with an option to renew for further 10 years, subject at any time to two months’ notice of termination. </li><li><strong>Expected gain or loss:</strong> no loss will be incurred by the City arising from the granting of right; and </li><li> <strong>The proposed transaction includes a call for alternative proposals</strong>.
