Comment on the proposed granting of rights to manage City-owned property in Durbanville <span> <h2 class="sectHeading">About</h2></span> <p> In accordance with section 16.5 and 16.6 of the <a href="">Management of certain of the City of Cape Town’s Immovable Property Policy</a> (adopted by Council on 26 August 2010 C54/08/10) and Chapter 4 of the Municipal Asset Transfer Regulations (2008) we are considering the lease of the following City-owned property:<br></p> <span> <div class="mobile-scroll"><table style="width:600px;"><thead><tr><th>Erf/farm number</th><th style="width:122px;">Extent (±)</th><th>Street and suburb<br></th><th colspan="1" style="width:135px;">​Current zoning<br></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Erf 6588</td><td style="width:122px;">± 120 m²<br></td><td>New Street, Durbanville </td><td colspan="1" style="width:135px;">Transport 1​</td></tr></tbody></table></div>​​​</span> <p>We plan to enter into a management agreement with Mould Empower Serve (MES) NPC or its successors-in-title for transitional shelter for people living o the streets. <br></p><h4>Information Statement</h4><ul><li>Reason: Provide safe and secure accommodation for individuals currently living on the streets. </li><li>Expected benefit: Mitigate the issue of unlawful occupation of public spaces within the city.</li><li>Expected proceeds: that the City will receive a nominal tariff rental of R1056 per anum excluding VAT for the proposed management of the provision of transitional shelter to people living on the street; </li><li>Expected gain or loss: no loss will be incurred by the City arising from the granting of right; and </li><li>The proposed transaction includes a call for alternative proposals.
