Volunteer with the Law Enforcement Auxiliary Service<span> <h2 class="sectHeading">About​​​​​​​</h2></span><span> <div class="notification with-heading dark-copy pink bg-light-grey"><div class="graphic with-border"> <i class="info remember">​​​</i> </div><div class="desc"><h4>Please note</h4><p> Applications for Volunteer Auxiliary officers are currently closed.</p></div></div></span> <p>There are two types of positions available as a volunteer auxiliary officer.</p><p>Uniform officer: For this position you must have a matric certificate and a valid driver’s license. These volunteer officers work alongside permanent staff or qualified law enforcement volunteer officers until they completed their field training programme and acquired the necessary exposure and competence to work autonomous.</p><p>Administrative Officer: A minimum academic qualification of grade 10 is required although a driver’s license is not a requirement. These officers will assist in the administrative environment of the department and which may include a special skill such as Information Technology, etc.</p><p>Volunteer auxiliary officers once accepted, trained and qualify as a peace officer, undergo additional training to empower them with their function. The volunteer programme is designed to empower neighbourhood watch structures to better serve their surrounding communities. Peace officers are under the command of law enforcement when on duty as a law enforcement volunteer.</p><p>Volunteers are required to provide a minimum of 16 hours volunteer duty per month. Training for volunteers normally take place over weekends and/or after hours, due to applicants being employed and thus not available during office hours.</p><p>An applicant who is accepted into the volunteer programme will have to perform volunteer service for a minimum period of two years before being eligible to apply for a remunerated position within the department if and when positions become available.</p><div style="display:none;"><p>Please agree to the following questions.
