We are holding the 2024 dinner in honour of the City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Services.</p></div><span> <h2 class="sectHeading">About</h2></span> <p>The City’s <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/Departments/Fire%20and%20Rescue%20Service%20Department">Fire and Rescue Service Department </a>is one of the best-equipped fire services on the continent and is a dedicated, highly trained and well-motivated corps despite enormous challenges. Between October 2023 and January 2024, Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service responded to 13 087 incidents from 32 fire stations across the City of Cape Town. </p><p> The service also assists further afield, and served with distinction during the recent floods in KwaZulu-Natal and during the George building collapse in May, where the Special Operations Response Team helped rescue dozens of trapped people from the collapsed building. </p><p> Fire and Rescue Services' members operate with precision and professionalism, often amidst extremely challenging and life-threatening conditions, while demonstrating unwavering dedication and compassion to the public they serve. </p><p> The City is proud to recognise them. </p><p> Proceeds from the Charity Auction Dinner will go towards two charities identified by the Fire and Rescue Services. </p><h4>The charities are:</h4><ul><li> <strong><a href="https://stjosephsipc.org.za/" target="_blank">St. Joseph’s Intermediate Paediatric Care<i class="icon link-external"></i></a></strong> is a care facility that bridges patients between the hospital and their homes.
