<p>We want you to share your best entrepreneurial ideas for boosting employment in your local community. In exchange, we will provide training and development opportunities for start-ups.<br></p><p>The overall winner will be given the chance to partner with the City on projects that benefit jobseekers, and provide long-term employment opportunities.<br></p><h2 class="sectHeading">How it works</h2><p>Our categories for this year are:<br></p><ul><li>Agriculture / farming<br></li><li>Manufacturing</li><li>Information technology (IT)<br></li><li>Finance and business services<br></li><li>Tourism<br></li></ul><p>Your business/business idea needs to show how it can be profitable and sustainable within one of the categories above.

Make sure you make a note of the video URL, as you will need to include it in your entry form. <br></li><li>Complete the YouthStartCT entry form.</li></ul><p>
<strong>Entries closed on Monday, 1 April 2024</strong>. </p><p>Read through our<a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Procedures%2c%20guidelines%20and%20regulations/YouthStart_FAQs.pdf" target="_blank"> FAQ document for answers to more questions</a>.</p><h2 class="sectHeading">What comes next?</h2><p> The top entrants are notified via email, and offered training and mentoring workshops to further develop their ideas and businesses.<br></p><p>Entrants are required to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges, and every week a number of entrants are eliminated from the competition.<br></p><p>Various prizes are up for grabs including cash awards, customised business support, mentoring and development guidance.</p>
