<span> <h2 class="sectHeading">About<br></h2> <p>If you are a high school learner or university student you can jo shadow a City staff member, while university students can also apply for vacation/field work.</p> <p> <strong>Please note: </strong>These are unpaid positions and the City will not cover transport or food-related costs, however we may remunerate for fieldwork and vacation programmes.</p> <span> <h2 class="sectHeading">Job shadow positions</h2></span> <p>Job shadowing entails following a professional for a few days and observing their day-to-day work. It is an excellent way to see what a job really involves and can also help you decide which qualification to study or career path to take. </p> <span> <h4>How to apply for a job shadow position<br></h4></span> <p>You will need to be a South African citizen who lives in Cape Town and you should be in high school or attending university.</p> <span> <div class="lrg-icon-content bordered"><div class="lrg-icon lrg-check"><p> <b>Please include with your application: </b></p><ul><li>a completed<a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Forms%2c%20notices%2c%20tariffs%20and%20lists/Job%20Shadowing%20Application%20form.pdf" target="_blank"> job shadow application form</a></li><li>a certified copy of your ID (not older than 3 months)<br></li><li>a letter from your school/college requesting job shadowing and the duration (1 - 5 days only)<br></li><li>a signed letter from your parent/guardian confirming permission, if under 18 years old<br></li><li>a short CV (must contain your address and your educator/lecturer contact numbers)</li></ul></div></div></span> <p> </p> <span><h2 class="sectHeading">Other opportunities</h2></span><h4>Field work</h4><p>Field work allows final year students to complete work that aligns with their studies, to obtain their qualification.
