About boreholes and wellpoints

As boreholes and wellpoints pose a risk to the municipal drinking water supply system and may have an impact on the environment, they must be well regulated and monitored. Over-extraction of groundwater can result in the lowering of groundwater levels, affect downstream users, lead to reduced water levels in streams and rivers and cause other environmental harm.
