Apply to sell surplus SSEG energy to the City<h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​About​​​​​​​</h2> <span> <div class="notification with-heading dark-copy pink bg-light-grey"><div class="graphic with-border"> <i class="info note">​​​</i> </div><div class="desc"><h4>applications are closed<br></h4><p> Applications for the first round closed on 31 August 2022. Information for the next round will be announced in due course.<br></p></div></div></span> <p>We are offering businesses an opportunity to sell surplus Small-scale Embedded Generation (SSEG) energy to us, at the approved City SSEG feed-in tariffs, so we can test systems and processes. This is the first of many submission rounds, and residential customers will be given a similar opportunity in future.</p><p>Surplus energy will be bought at the approved City SSEG feed-in tariffs, and eligible commercial electricity customers can choose to be compensated in one of the following ways:</p><ul><li>Off-setting credit against your electricity account; </li><li>Off-setting credit against your rates account or another account in your name; or</li><li>Payment.</li></ul><h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​Who is eligible?​​​​​<br></h2><p>To be eligible to sell your surplus electricity to us, you must have a City <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/City-Connect/Apply/Municipal-services/Electricity/apply-for-authorisation-to-install-a-small-scale-embedded-generation-system" target="_blank">approved SSEG installation</a>, and must register on our vendor supplier database.</p><p>As we need to adhere to the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) rules for any procurement, contracting with interest parties will be done in different rounds. </p><p>This is only the first round, and we hope that all existing SSEG customers will show interest.
