<span> <h2 class="sectHeading">About</h2></span> <p> The City supports the Smart Supplier Programme to help City-registered vendors overcome obstacles and expand their operations. In doing so, we hope to create more job opportunities and a stronger economy for Cape Town. </p><p>The programme aids business growth by providing effective engagement with a corporate supply chain. Participants go through a rigorous step-by-step development process to proactively address the daily challenges that small businesses face when trying to access new markets and new business opportunities. </p><p>Virtual masterclasses and workshops prepare businesses for an introduction to buyers in their sector of business. </p><h4> Course modules focus on, among others:</h4><ul><li>improving service offering and delivery </li><li>understanding how public and private sector procurement decision processes work; </li><li>how to respond to quotes, tenders, sales, pitch preparation, negotiations; and </li><li>contracting and customer relationship management.<br></li></ul> <span> <h2 class="sectHeading">Qualifying criteria</h2></span> <p>To qualify for the programme you will need to meet the following criteria: </p><ul><li>Your business must be based in Cape Town and owned by a South African citizen </li><li>Your business must have been operational for a minimum of 18 months </li><li>You must be able to handle increased market demands and must have a competitive advantage in the market you trade in <br></li><li>You must be registered as a supplier on the <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/City-Connect/Register/Business-and-trade/Register-as-a-supplier">City’s Central Supplier Database</a> </li><li>You must be willing and able to attend online training sessions as well as physical networking-buyer matchup sessions.</li></ul> <span> <h2 class="sectHeading">Apply</h2></span> <span><div class="notification with-heading dark-copy pink bg-light-grey"><div class="graphic with-border"> <i class="info note"></i> </div><div class="desc"><h4>Please note</h4><p>Applications closed on Friday, 26 january 2024.
