Apply for an entrepreneur training programme

Entrepreneurs have the opportunity to apply for a three-year training programme.

About the programme

In conjunction with the University of the Western Cape (UWC), we are offering approximately 200 entrepreneurs the opportunity to participate in a three-year, accredited skills training programme.

Aimed at Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), the programme will give you the skills and support to help grow your business.

The programme, actioned by our Expanded Public Works Programme and UWC’s Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, will empower you to make informed decisions on growing your business, creating employment opportunities and will help you further contribute to the local economy.

The three-year entrepreneurship programme will run from 1 November 2021 - 31 October 2024 and:

  • is free to participants;
  • will provide online and in-person sessions, adhering to Covid-19 protocols;
  • will include topics such as business analysis and coaching, mobile technology to support your business; growth strategies, among others;
  • will provide participants with practical support via mentorship, as well as ongoing monitoring and evaluating.

Who can apply?

Only entrepreneurs who meet the criteria will be considered for the programme.

You can apply if you have:

  • a new business;
  • an existing or entry-level SMME that has been in operation for less than two years; or
  • an existing SMME that has been in operation for more than two years.

Please note

Your business can be registered or unregistered.

Our EPWP team will work in conjunction with the University of the Western Cape’s CEI to evaluate applications and approve the final list of participants.

If more than 200 applicants meet the criteria, preference will be given to existing businesses. Specific selection criteria, communicated at the time, will also be applied to choose the most suitable candidates.

How to apply

Applications closed on 29 October 2021. If you applied and have not heard from the City by 30 November 2021, please consider your application unsuccessful.
