This is a publicly visible role, with a high level of responsibility, and demands ethical conduct, accountability, a commitment to excellence in service, and a focus on our residents.</p><p>Strategic ability, sound financial acumen and an innovative, influential, and collaborative approach are fundamental, as is knowledge and understanding of the local government environment.</p><h2 class="sectHeading">Vacancies</h2><p>The following position are available:</p><ul><li> <strong>Executive Director: Community Services and Health</strong></li><li> <strong>Executive Director: Spatial Planning and Environment</strong></li><li> <strong>Executive Director: Urban Waste Management</strong></li></ul><p> <a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Forms%2c%20notices%2c%20tariffs%20and%20lists/Executive_Director_Positions-May_2022.pdf" target="_blank">Read through the full job advertisement for all the abovementioned positions</a>. </p><h4>Purpose of the position:</h4><ul><li>Achieving excellence in local government service delivery, infrastructure investment, and municipal operations.</li><li>Building a city administration that demonstrates the best of what South Africa is capable of in honest, responsive, committed local government.</li><li>Providing the City administration with leadership and direction; developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with key stakeholders; executing decisions of the political structure; advising and guiding the strategic management structure on functional matters and executing policy decisions, by developing and implementing strategic business plans and policies, which enable and support the City’s strategic objectives, and ensuring decision-making and performance accountability.</li></ul><h4>Annual remuneration package:</h4><p>From R2 055 005</p><h4>Contract period:</h4><p>A minimum of five (5) years’ fixed-term contract/permanent appointment option for qualifying candidates.</p><h4>Requirements</h4><p>All candidates <strong>must</strong> have: </p><ul><li>Completed the MFMA minimum competency training or will be expected to achieve such within 18 months after appointment </li><li>At least 5 (fi ve) years’ experience at a senior managerial level within a large and diverse environment </li><li>Advanced knowledge and understanding of relevant policy and legislation </li><li>Institutional governance systems and performance management </li><li>Budgetary and fi nancial management </li><li>Excellent communication and relationship building skills </li><li>Exceptional leadership ability with a highly innovative, infl uential and collaborative approach to leadership.</li></ul><h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​Apply​​​​​​​</h2><p>Complete the <a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Forms%2c%20notices%2c%20tariffs%20and%20lists/Executive_Careers_EmploymentApplicationForm.pdf" target="_blank"> Application form</a> as well as the <a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Forms%2c%20notices%2c%20tariffs%20and%20lists/Personal_credential_verification_form.pdf" target="_blank"> Personal Credential Verification form</a>.
