Apply for free water for subsistence farming and food gardens

The City provides a free water allocation to subsistence farmers as well as organisations growing food for vulnerable groups. This extends to organisations with food gardens including orphanages, soup kitchens at schools, indigent old age homes, HIV/AIDS facilities, and facilities caring for women. If you would like to apply, you can follow the process below.

How to apply

Did you know?

An Inclusive City: The City provides a 10 kl free allocation of water per month to subsistence farms and other qualifying groups.

Step 1: Complete an affidavit at your local police station, supporting your application.

Include with your application:

  • a copy of municipal account
  • proof of registration of organisation (if applicable)
  • an affidavit signed by a commissioner of oaths

Step 2: Once you have completed the affidavit, you can submit it at any of the City’s walk in centres.
