crèche as part of the City’s crèche programme. Some programmes take place for a few hours once a week while others run all day, on every day of the week. Children are taught by qualified teachers and can expect nutritious meals and snacks. Initiated by Safety Lab, a City partner, the programme forms part of the Mayoral Urban Regeneration programme (MURP) and is coordinated by the City’s VPUU unit. The programme attracts around 300 children on weekends, while open mic nights attract around 150 older teenagers. Please contact the facility for the tutoring schedule.</p><p> <strong>The Learning Programme </strong> <br>Attend the Learning Programme for help with your homework or to participate in educational talks and group sports. Please visit the facility page for its individual programme schedule. </p> <span> <h2 class="sectHeading">Life orientation</h2></span> <p> <strong>Life Orientation (LO) class</strong><br>Physical education, which forms part of Life Orientation (LO) class, is taught from grade eight to 12 and includes activities such as ball and circle games, light exercise, stretching, and running. Some of our facilities have teamed with nearby high schools to assist in teaching life orientation classes. The centres organise talks from organisations such as <a href="https://www.safeline.org.za/" target="_blank">Safeline<i class="icon link-external"></i></a> who lecture on child abuse, <a href="https://www.sassa.gov.za/" target="_blank">SASSA<i class="icon link-external"></i></a> who give advice about savings and finances, and <a href="https://www.saps.gov.za/index.php" target="_blank">SAPS<i class="icon link-external"></i></a> who teach basic safety and security. The programme continues in the school holidays and all youth are welcome to attend. Occasionally, the facilities may organise face painting and safety talks from the <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/Departments/Law%20Enforcement%2c%20Traffic%20and%20Coordination%20Department">Law Enforcement, Traffic and Coordination Department</a> and the <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/Departments/Fire%20and%20Rescue%20Service%20Department">Fire and Rescue Department</a>. The Parks programme does not take place on a regular basis, but usually during the school holidays when the weather is good. Our parks have a number of different spray features and include safe areas where adults can watch over their children as they play safely in the light spray.
