Home Composting Programme <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​About the programme</h2> <span> <div class="notification with-heading dark-copy pink bg-light-grey"><div class="graphic with-border"> <i class="info note">​​​</i> </div><div class="desc"><h4>programme suspended</h4><p>Due to the <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/Family%20and%20home/personal-health/contagious-and-chronic-diseases/coronavirus">Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak</a>, the Home Composting Programme is suspended until further notice.</p></div></div></span> <p>We provide free home composting containers to help you deal with your organic household waste and create a good compost system. Good compost feeds nutrients back into soil, retaining moisture and can help you to grow your own food and establish a healthy garden.</p><p>Since the start of the programme in 2016, we have issued more than 22 000 FREE home composting containers to residents throughout the city.</p><h4>Response to COVID-19</h4><p>Once the coronavirus threat has been effectively managed, we will reschedule the rollout of the composting containers.</p><p>Watch this space for details about future composting programmes.
