| Resurfacing of roads in Lentegeur starts today | Resurfacing of roads in Lentegeur starts today | | <img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/Driving%20and%20vehicle%20safety%20Header.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /> | <p>The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby advises residents, road users and the public in the Mitchells Plain area that today, 19 February 2024, roadworks have commenced along Merrydale Avenue, between Highlands Drive and Morgenster Road in Lentegeur. The roadworks are scheduled to end on Monday, 18 March 2024, weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays. Work will take place on Mondays to Fridays, from 09:00 until 15:30 on these days. <br></p> | <p>The scope of the work includes the milling and removal of the existing road surface and relaying it with a new asphalt layer. <br><br>All damaged manholes, catchpits, frames and chambers will be removed or replaced. <br><br>Traffic signal loops will also be installed in the completed asphalt surfacing and road markings removed during the process will also be reinstated with retro reflective road marking paint.<br><br>‘In the interest of delivering services to the people, we are pleased to see this work being started in Lentegeur. This is maintenance work that aims to prolong the longevity of the roads in this area. To minimise disruptions, we will not be doing any roadworks at night or on weekends.
