Technical Partnerships

What we do

We drive strategic partnerships with technical cooperation partners, philanthropies, network organisations, and international counterparts (“partners”).

Established in July 2022 in the Future Planning and Resilience Directorate, we lead a coordinated approach to unlocking technical assistance and non-gazetted grant funding aligned with the City’s strategic objectives. We strengthen collaboration, improve partner engagement, and maximise the impact of external support in line with the City’s Integrated Development Plan.

We provide a single, structured entry point for partners looking to collaborate on technical assistance and grant-funded projects and programmes with the City. We work with partners to understand their programmes and funding priorities and match these opportunities with the City’s strategic needs and priority projects. By bringing governance, structure, and visibility to partnerships, we ensure that engagements are well coordinated, mutually beneficial, and aligned with both City and partner objectives.

Partnership development

We establish and manage strategic relationships with technical cooperation partners, donors, and international counterparts in support of the City’s strategic objectives.

Funding and technical assistance mobilisation

We mobilise non-gazetted grant funding and technical assistance to support priority City projects and programmes.

Partner engagement and coordination

We serve as the City’s primary point of contact for external partners and coordinate partnership engagements across City directorates.

Programme matching and opportunity alignment

We align partner programmes, funding priorities, and technical expertise with identified City needs and development priorities.

Financing facilitation

We facilitate engagements between development partners and City Treasury in relation to concessional and other financing opportunities.

Monitoring, reporting and governance

We facilitate all relevant approvals and agreements, track partnerships and donor-funded programmes, strengthen governance and transparency, and report on partnership performance to City leadership.
