Purpose of the application

The proposal is for the replacement of the existing structure at the Adderley Street / Trafalgar Place Flower Market with a new structure, including the formalisation of market stalls. The specific applications in terms of the MPBL are listed below:

  • Section 42(i): Consent in terms of Item 47(b) of the Development Management Scheme (DMS) to permit “informal trading”.
  • Section 42(i): City approval in terms of Item 89 of the DMS to construct a structure in or over a public street (Tafalgar Street and Adderley Street).
  • Section 42(i): Approval of a site development plan, in accordance with Item 88(a) of the DMS.
  • Section 42(i): To permit alterations and additions within a Heritage Protection Overlay Zone (HPOZ), in accordance with Item 162 of the DMS.
