Comment on the proposed management agreement for City-owned property in Lerotholi Avenue, Langa<span> <h2 class="sectHeading">About</h2></span> <p>Notice is hereby given in terms of the provisions of the Local Government Municipal Finance management Act, the <a href="http://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Management%20of%20Certain%20of%20the%20City%20of%20Cape%20Towns%20Immovable%20Property%20Policy%20-%20approved%20on%2026%20August%202010.pdf" target="_blank">Policy on the Management of certain of the City of Cape Town’s Immovable Property</a> and the Municipal Asset Transfer Regulations that we are considering a management agreement for the following City-owned property:<br></p> <span> <div class="mobile-scroll"><table style="width:600px;"><thead><tr><th>Erf/farm number</th><th style="width:122px;">Extent (±)</th><th>Street and suburb<br></th><th colspan="1" style="width:135px;">​Current zoning<br></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Erf 3884</td><td style="width:122px;">± 120 m²</td><td>Lerotholi Avenue, Langa</td><td colspan="1" style="width:135px;">General business 4​</td></tr></tbody></table> <br> </div>​​​</span> <p>We plan to grant the rights to manage the abovementioned City-owned property to <strong>Masakhane Foundation</strong> or their successors- in-title. <br></p><h4>Information Statement</h4><ul><li> <strong>Reason:</strong> the property is not required for the provision of a minimum level of basic municipal service; </li><li> <strong>Expected benefit:</strong> the property is to be used for a community garden; </li><li> <strong>Expected proceeds: </strong>the City will receive a tariff related rental for the proposed granting of rights. A rental of R1 252.00 per annum including VAT, subject to any increase in terms of rental for land leased as determined from time to time by Council for a period of five years, subject at any time to two months’ notice of termination. </li><li> <strong>Expected gain or loss:</strong> no loss will be incurred by the City arising from the granting of right; and </li><li> <strong>This advert also calls for alternative proposals.</strong> We will base the criteria for evaluating alternative proposals on the proposed community benefit. For example:  A community garden provides communities with better food security; food at competitive prices; and exercise and health activities.
