Apply for a residential parking permit
Local businesses and residents in De Waterkant can apply for a parking permit from the City.
How it works
We are issuing parking permits in De Waterkant as part of a pilot programme aimed at alleviating the shortage of parking in high activity areas.
Demarcated streets in De Waterkant will be reserved for resident-only parking on weekdays from 08:00 to 17:00, and on event days at the DHL Stadium.
De Waterkant residents who can confirm their residential status can apply for a parking permit, which will allow them to park in one of the resident-only parking areas.
Download the locality map to view the selected streets.
Permit conditions
- You can only use your permit on the streets demarcated with “Permit holder” signage, and only in the resident parking permit area specified on your permit.
- You can only use this permit while you are living at the address for which the permit is granted – if you move, the permit will no longer be valid. You will need to provide proof of address when you apply.
- You cannot permanently transfer your permit to any new or other resident of a property in the resident parking permit area.
- Council reviews and approves tariffs on an annual basis.
- You may not duplicate your permit in any way.
- You must display your permit disc prominently on the left-hand side of your windscreen.
- Law Enforcement and Traffic Services will enforce the parking laws for resident-only parking areas.
- This permit does not guarantee that you will get parking, and does not provide for the exclusive use of any specific parking bay in a resident-only parking area.
