City of Malmö, Kingdom of Sweden
Memorandum of Understanding
Date signed: 22/09/2016
Purpose:
The partnership is based on the mutual challenge of how to create more sustainable cities. Both cities are segregated into affluent areas with high income and less affluent areas with a variety of social ills. The idea is, therefore, to work with social inclusion, but from a planning perspective – taking into account the economic, social and cultural barriers. A key focus is also to use the concept of green urban areas as learning spaces and meeting places. However, according to the Sustainable Energy Markets (SEM) Department, the partnership has been on hold since 2016. The inception phase of the partnership was completed in 2015 and the Inception Report was finalised in early 2016.
