Good for You. Good for Business
Good For You is the City’s initiative to create healthier food environments in City workplaces. Through practical food guidelines and a supportive incentive programme, the City is working with food vendors to make healthier, affordable, and culturally appropriate food options easier to access for staff and visitors.
This programme recognises that food choices are shaped by what is available, affordable, and promoted—and that the workplace is a powerful setting to support healthier everyday decisions.
About us
What is Good for You?
Good for You is a City initiative designed to encourage healthier habits by improving access to healthy, affordable food in public spaces, especially in City buildings.
Research shows that when workplaces offer healthier food options, it becomes easier for people to make better choices. This can help prevent weight gain, reduce the risk of disease, and support longer, healthier lives.

What is a Good for You vendor?
Good for You vendors are food service providers in City buildings who meet the City's healthy food standards, benchmarked against both local and global best practices. These vendors are committed to offering meals made with quality ingredients, balanced portions, and thoughtful nutrition, making healthier choices easy and accessible.
These vendors:
- Offer menu options that meet Good For You standards
- Participate in training and practical menu development
- Are assessed using a Good For You checklist
- Are recognised for providing healthier food choices
Through Good for You, the City provides these food vendors with practical tools, clear guidance and support to meet safe, hygienic food preparation standards while offering more nutritious food options.

Healthy Food Guideline
The Good For You Healthy Food Guidelines provide clear, evidence-based standards for food sold in City facilities. They guide vendors on how to:
- Increase the availability of healthier meals and snacks
- Reduce excess salt, sugar, and unhealthy fats
- Promote fresh, minimally processed foods
- Offer balanced portion sizes
- Maintain affordability and cultural relevance
The guidelines were developed by City Health and aligned with national and global best practice on healthy food environments. They form part of the City’s broader commitment to employee wellbeing, prevention of non-communicable diseases, and healthier urban living.
This document also provides practical tips for the food provider and food handlers on menu planning, food preparation, and promoting nutritious choices.
