District Six local neighbourhood plan

<span> <h2 class="sectHeading">About the District Six LSDF</h2></span> <p>While the City is not involved in the District Six restitution process, we are responsible for the LSDF, as well as approving land use and building plan submissions.<br></p><p>The purpose of the LSDF is to formulate a spatial vision for the future District Six. It will also include policy guidelines, required projects, and show the spatial restructuring within the area, as well as the integration within the district and the surrounding areas.</p> <span> <div class="notification with-heading dark-copy pink bg-light-grey"><div class="graphic with-border"> <i class="info note"></i> </div><div class="desc"><h4>remember</h4><p>The <a href="https://www.dalrrd.gov.za/" target="_blank">National Department of Rural Development and Land Reform<i class="icon link-external"></i></a> is responsible for redeveloping District Six and constructing houses for the beneficiaries. </p></div></div></span> <p>To develop the LSDF, we will be collaborating with the District Six community, as well as other residents and interested groups. With their input we can help create the public open spaces of District Six, including the way we want them to look, how we want them to be used, and how we want them to connect us with one another, and with the other surrounding neighbourhoods.</p> <span> <h2 class="sectHeading">Community meetings</h2></span> <p>Our meetings took place online and we made venues available for residents to attend in person where possible.</p><p>Don’t worry if you missed a meeting. You can simply access the videos, presentations and plans from previous meetings in the related information section below.</p><h2 class="sectHeading">The Public Realm Strategy </h2><p> <em>'Public Realm'</em> is a term used to describe the publicly owned places and spaces that are free and open to everyone, including streets, squares, forecourts, parks and open spaces.<br></p><p>We have developed a Public Realm Strategy for District Six to promote new growth in the area.
