    This call to action comes as it’s been determined that landfill gas is produced when food waste decomposes at landfill. This gas largely consists of methane, the global warming potential of which is around 25 times greater than that of carbon dioxide. It has been established that, if world food wastage were a country, it would be the third largest greenhouse gas contributor in the world.
