Read more below:<br></p> | <p></p><p>Initial indications are that the thieves stole all pipes leading to the swimming pool filters and vandalised a number of other components in the plant room.</p><p>Staff arrived at the facility to find that the water level in the pool had dropped significantly, and the water to the facility was shut off to prevent any further water loss.</p><p>The incident comes just six months after the Retreat indoor swimming pool reopened to the public, following a period of critical repairs and maintenance. The work completed included upgrades to key systems and facilities – some of which were damaged in the incident. </p><p>Despite the extensive damage, the project team has undertaken some remedial work that may allow the pool to re-open as early as tomorrow. <br></p><p>However, this would be a temporary measure, and permanent repairs are scheduled to commence on Tuesday.</p><p>'This setback is incredibly disappointing and frustrating. An assessment has to be completed to determine the extent of the damage, and then the process will begin to do repairs. This facility is a hub for many local users, including swimming clubs and the latest closure is a blow.
