Title deeds handed over to The Hague home owners

'If Cape Town is to become a more economically inclusive city, it is crucial that everyone, including the most vulnerable Capetonians, are able to access the property market. Formal property ownership allows people to live in dignified conditions and promotes physical security. In addition, ownership of real assets breaks the cycle of intergenerational poverty and offers financial security.

'In line with our commitment to the dignity and inclusion of our least well off residents, we believe that no Capetonian should be a permanent tenant of the state. Today's title deed handover is yet another important moment in our accelerated title deed handover programme, which will continue over the years to come, allowing people to own their homes rather than being perpetual renters,' said Mayor Hill-Lewis.

'We are pleased to assist more beneficiaries with the title deeds to their homes at The Hague. This is a mega project and will provide 2 400 affordable opportunities to residents. The handover of title deeds will be ongoing on a month-to-month basis and we urge beneficiaries to make sure their contact details are up to date as SMSs will be sent once they are ready for collection. We look forward to assisting many more residents with the title deeds to their homes. They are some of the most poor in the metro and really stand to benefit by having their title deed,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi.

Residents are encouraged to visit this link to update their details on the Housing Needs Register: https://web1.capetown.gov.za/web1/HWL2012Online/

End

2022-11-01T22:00:00ZGP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891dGP0|#4b1f612f-669f-47c2-b682-4bdfbd51e6df;L0|#04b1f612f-669f-47c2-b682-4bdfbd51e6df|Delft;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb;GP0|#d662b000-ebd9-4cff-8d9f-ae22c105ed6c;L0|#0d662b000-ebd9-4cff-8d9f-ae22c105ed6c|title deed;GP0|#4f905c08-072a-43d2-8461-0505ce3c90ba;L0|#04f905c08-072a-43d2-8461-0505ce3c90ba|beneficiary10
