The race, which forms part of the Western Province Athletics calendar, traces the history of Cape Town. Read more below:<br></p> | <p>Approximately 8 000 runners are expected to take on the half marathon, 10km and 5km races. </p><p>Starting in Darling Street in front of City Hall, the road running event will follow a route which also includes the Castle of Good Hope, District 6, Company's Gardens, Bo-Kaap, DHL Stadium, Fort Wynyard and many streets of the CBD.</p><p>The 21 km half-marathon will take athletes on a route through District 6, past Parliament into Gardens, up the Bo-Kaap for the infamous <em>Koeksister Hill</em>, through the Green Point Urban Park detour via the DHL Stadium before heading back into the CBD for a finish on the Grand Parade. </p><p>The 10 km will follow a similar start route, but with a turn into Wale Street from Bo-Kaap past the Iziko Slave Lodge, the Slave Tree Plaque and then a run through the Castle of Good Hope before a finish on the Grand Parade. </p><p>The 5 km race starts with a run through the Castle of Good Hope before making its way through the Company's Gardens and the Iziko Slave Lodge ahead of a finish on the Grand Parade. </p><p>'This is a race event that honours and commemorates Cape Town's heritage and culture. The routes give thousands of runners the opportunity to trace the history of this city, while also showcasing the beauty of some of Cape Town's most historic communities. The City of Cape Town is proud to be part of an event that recognises our past, celebrating our diversity and looking into the future.
