Currently, this road is a dual carriageway between the N1 and Kommissaris Street.

'However, with a growing population and more developments in these areas, there is a dire need to add additional lanes to Jip de Jager Drive up to Riebeeckshof Road to accommodate the increase in traffic. This will go a long way in alleviating the traffic congestion in the morning and afternoon peak hour periods in particular.

'The contractor will do all it can to limit the impact on road users, however, all road construction projects come with a level of inconvenience and the more important the route, the more severe the impact will be. Best is to avoid this road as far as possible, and to anticipate delays when travelling along this section. Also, residents may experience some dust and noise pollution in the vicinity of the roadworks.

'I want to thank all for their support during this time, and request road users to please comply with the signage and flag personnel's instructions,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

Caption: The yellow line indicates the section of Jip de Jager Drive where the City will be adding additional lanes to increase the capacity of this very important road link between Durbanville, Welgemoed and Bellville, and the N1 freeway.

End

| 2023-01-02T22:00:00Z | GP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891d | | | | | GP0|#762de267-90ad-4660-8493-5085a227187c;L0|#0762de267-90ad-4660-8493-5085a227187c|Transport;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb;GPP|#849c71d3-ed9d-4ce2-89f6-03e9c6f179ef;GPP|#ed82ebba-eb32-4b9a-99c9-da3e081869a6;GP0|#f1734e52-da42-4cfc-a3a5-3514093d3513;L0|#0f1734e52-da42-4cfc-a3a5-3514093d3513|roads;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb | 1 | | | | | | | | | | | 0 |
