Jameson street in Bellville to remain closed until 10 December

'This section of Jameson Street is temporarily closed due to roadworks that form part of the current upgrade of Jip de Jager Drive into a dual carriageway. This is a key project within the City's Congestion Management Strategy, which will result in traffic congestion relief in the area, in particular during the morning and afternoon peak hours. We therefore thank residents for their patience and understanding while the team completes the necessary works over the next month,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.Alternative routes to access Jip de Jager Drive are available via Dragoon Avenue; Jorgensens Avenue and Van Riebeeckshof Road; or Cameronians Avenue; Wylant Street; Chavonne Street; Mara Street and Pandoer Street.The City has ensured that road closure and detour signage is in place to direct motorists to Jip de Jager Drive via the alternative access routes.Residents and commuters who make use of this stretch of road are advised that:<ul><li>Traffic moving in both directions will be affected</li><li>Roadworks will take place between 07:30 and 17:30 from Monday to Saturday</li><li>Work areas will be demarcated on a daily basis to regulate traffic flow through the affected area.</li><li>Vehicles parked in the demarcated areas and obstructing the construction work will be moved or towed away</li></ul> End
