It is easy for young children to lose sight of where their family is located and get lost in the crowds. A number of the lost children in the past two days were not tagged. Parents and caregivers can rest assured that their information is confidential and is only used when their child is lost. Help us to keep your little ones safe. With more holidays and good weather coming up, I want to encourage parents and caregivers who visit the beach with small children to find the Identikidz registration desks and get their little ones tagged,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia van der Ross.

The rest of the participating beaches returned the following statistics:

Camps Bay: 1 933

Muizenberg: 2 904

Mnandi: 2 589

Sea Point: 460

Harmony Park: 1 815

Gordon's Bay: 1 486

Fish Hoek: 1 109

Milnerton Beach: 1 165

Melkbosstrand: 664

Silwerstroom: 893

Lagoon Beach: 332

Big Bay: 785

Maiden's Cove: 183

Staff at the Identikidz registration desks will:

With the permission of parents or caretakers, register children and issue them with an identification tag/wrist band

Assist with the reunification of a lost or displaced child Work closely with the provincial Department of Social Development, the City’s enforcement agencies and the South African Police Service to ensure the safety and reunification of a lost or displaced child with their family.

End

| 2024-12-26T22:00:00Z | GP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891d | | | | | GP0|#91b32b75-e5b2-4c6f-aa36-8403fd64d234;L0|#091b32b75-e5b2-4c6f-aa36-8403fd64d234|Identikidz Programme;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb;GPP|#d5141e36-ff62-46df-b0f1-9b4b0b021e67;GP0|#272100f7-934d-4419-9027-2d113fa28ead;L0|#0272100f7-934d-4419-9027-2d113fa28ead|Beach safety;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb | 1 | | | | | | | | | | | 0 |
