Eggciting programmes at City facilities this Easter holiday Eggciting programmes at City facilities this Easter holiday
The City of Cape Town’s libraries and recreation facilities are pulling out all the stops to make this Easter school holiday fun. The line-up of hundreds of activities is nothing to yolk about.

The City's facilities offer a range of activities, catering for children and young people of all ages.

Libraries and recreational centres are particularly popular, and always have lots to keep children occupied.

'Our community services facilities are safe spaces – more so during the school holidays - and I encourage parents to send their little ones to their local facility. It's the ideal opportunity to let their hair down, discover a new talent or learn a new hobby, and to make new friends,' said Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia Van der Ross.

For details about the holiday programmes at your library or recreation centre, visit a city facility- near you to enquire.

Community swimming pools that are operational, are open on weekends until 24 March 2024, including Human Rights Day.

From 25 March to 1 April 2024, they will open daily for the school holidays, after which they will close for the off-season.

'The weather forecast promises some sunny days and our beaches and pools will have their fair share of visitors. I want to encourage parents and caregivers to keep an eye on their children at all times, but specifically where they are near any body of water. Our children's safety remains paramount and while our recreational facilities offer a safe space, guardians need to be vigilant in and around public areas,' added Councillor Van der Ross.

For a list of pools and their operating times, please go to: https://bit.ly/3Tl4Zw2.

Visitors to the beaches are reminded to follow the four golden rules of water safety:

Do not swim under the influence of alcohol

Do not leave children unsupervised in or around water

Do be aware of rip currents

Swim only between the red and yellow flags, where lifeguards are present

A list of activities at recreational facilities is available here: www.capetown.gov.za/holidayprogrammes

End

2024-03-19T22:00:00ZGP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891dGP0|#30641076-f110-4ad8-bb8d-63bf03d6dec8;L0|#030641076-f110-4ad8-bb8d-63bf03d6dec8|holiday;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb;GP0|#842133ab-7d93-404c-a8cb-56c42beaef53;L0|#0842133ab-7d93-404c-a8cb-56c42beaef53|holiday programme;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb10
