City takes a final pass at readiness for Bayhill Premier Cup<span><p>The under-19 soccer tournament, featuring 32 teams from the Western Cape, the rest of South Africa and even abroad, gets under way at the City's Erica Park Stadium on Wednesday, 27 March 2024.</p><p>The City's Recreation and Parks Department supports the Bayhill Premier Cup by providing venues and related event services.<br></p> <figure class="subtopic-fullsize-img"> <img src="" class="responsive" alt="" style="width:1069px;" /> </figure>​​</span><span><p>In recent days, there has been a flurry of activity behind the scenes to ensure that everything is in place before the opening fixture.</p><p>The final, on Monday, 1 April 2024, will be hosted at Athlone Stadium, to accommodate more spectators. </p><p>'This tournament is not just about soccer - it's about unity, sportsmanship and celebrating our vibrant community. To all the players and coaches, I wish you the best of luck on the field, and to all the supporters, I encourage you to come out and be a part of the excitement. To the players, let your talents shine … and remember, win or lose, you're all champions in our eyes. Play hard, play fair and let's make this Bayhill Tournament one for the books. See you on the pitch!' said Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia Van Der Ross.</p><p>Tickets for games at Erica Park will be sold at the gate, limited to approximately 3 800 maximum venue capacity.<br></p> <figure class="subtopic-fullsize-img"> <img src="" class="responsive" alt="" style="width:933px;" /> </figure>​</span><p>Tickets for the final at Athlone Stadium will need to be pre-booked online as advertised by the Bayhill event organisers.</p><p>'The Bayhill Premier Cup holds a special place in the hearts of many soccer lovers, and we are confident that they will come out in their numbers again this year to support the tournament, and the young players who will aim to give their all on the pitch.
