Read more below<br></p> | <p>The project entails the rebuilding of the three vandalised MyCiTi stations, namely the Dunoon, Usasaza and Freedom station, the latter previously named Phoenix.<br></p><p><img src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/Media%20Images%202/dunoon%201.png" alt="" style="margin:5px;width:600px;" /><br></p><div>At the Council sitting last week, 12 June 2024, the renaming of the Phoenix Station to Freedom Station was approved. This station is situated in Omurumba Road opposite the Joe Slovo suburb. </div><div> </div><div>The City used this rebuild project as an opportunity to rename Phoenix to Freedom Station after hosting a public participation process last year to source comments from the community, which resulted in the majority of residents supporting it.</div><div> </div><div>‘The contractor has established their site in the proximity of the station locations and plans to start with the construction soon. The anticipated completion date for these projects is November 2025, should all go according to plan.
