City commences with road resurfacing in Avondale, Atlantis

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby advises residents, road users and businesses of the resurfacing of roads in the Avondale area of Atlantis. The project has commenced this week and is anticipated to be completed by Monday, 25 March 2024, provided there are no unforeseen delays. 

The work will take place on weekdays from 07:30 until 17:00; no night or weekend work will be done.

The traffic will be accommodated during the hours of construction and, where possible, traffic will be diverted around the site.

'Residents in Avondale, Atlantis will soon be able to benefit from these works, which will include the resurfacing of roads and the painting of road markings. These resurfaced roads will improve road safety conditions and riding quality in this neighbourhood,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The affected roads are listed below:

  • Colebrook Street, between Grosvenor Avenue and Cottager Street
  • Doddington Street, intersecting with Colebrook Street
  • Duynbeek Street, intersecting with Colebrook Street
  • Dageraad Street, intersecting with Colebrook Street
  • Cottager street, intersecting with Colebrook Street
  • Bon Aventura Avenue between Chandos Street and Colebrook Street
  • Cybille Street, intersecting with Bon Aventura Avenue.
  • Centaur Street, between Chandos Street and Colebrook Street
  • Ceres Street, between Chandos Street and Colebrook Street


The City of Cape Town's Urban Mobility Directorate would like to thank road users for their patience. Road users are requested to please use alternative routes during this period. Residents can expect a level of noise during this time.
