City advises of water supply disruption to Camps Bay, Clifton and Fresnaye

The City’s Water and Sanitation Department is currently doing emergency repairs to the water mains that supply Camps Bay, Clifton and Fresnaye. Last night, during the gusty Southeaster, a tree fell on the water main in the vicinity of the parking area below the Cableway, flooding a few properties in upper Higgovale.

The Water and Sanitation Department had to urgently shut down the water supply to the Camps Bay, Clifton and Fresnaye areas at approximately 22:00 last night to prevent water wastage and further damage to the properties in the path of the water flow as well as to allow the maintenance crews to do an assessment for repairs.
 
The maintenance crews are on site since early this morning to conclude the assessment and arrangements are being made to do the emergency repairs as well as restoring the water supply in the shortest possible time, the latter being the priority. It is anticipated that supply can be restored overnight (around 23:00), unless there are unforeseen complications.
 
Residents and businesses in these areas are kindly requested to keep their taps closed to prevent any water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.
 
Two water tankers will be roaming through these areas to provide water for domestic purposes where required.
