City advises of urgent Blackheath Water Treatment Plant temporary shutdown

07 October 2022

The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will be temporarily shutting down its Blackheath Water Treatment Plant from 08:00 on Monday morning, 10 October 2022 until 08:00 on Friday, 14 October 2022 to do urgent maintenance as well as repairs to a leak at the Plant. Water supply from elsewhere in the bulk water network will be rerouted to the Blackheath water supply areas.

Consumers across the city are kindly requested to reduce their water usage considerably during this period to maintain available water supply and pressure in the water supply network and reservoirs until the maintenance work has been completed.

The Stellenbosch Municipality has also been informed to make the relevant arrangements to use the alternate water supply from the Faure Water Treatment Plant to supply their areas that will be affected.

The City sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused, and appreciates residents' cooperation as it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to the benefit of its consumers.
