City advises of supply disruption in Heathfield and parts of Elfindale
21 June 2022
The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will be shutting off the water supply to Heathfield and parts of Elfindale, on Wednesday, 22 June 2022, from 08:00 until 16:00. This will enable the safe completion of construction work on the main water supply to the area and will result in the disruption of water supply to Heathfield and parts of Elfindale (Edgemere Road, Edgemere Close, Rhynheath Way, Sunnybrook Way, Meersig Road, Meersig Close, Elfin Avenue, Sunbury Road, Windsor Park Avenue, Briana Crescent, Estmil Road and Allen Way).
The work involves the isolation of the existing water pipeline and transferring the water supply to the newly installed pipeline along Meersig Road and Sunnybrook Way in Elfindale.
Residents are kindly advised to store water upfront in clean, sealed containers for domestic use during this period and to ensure that their taps are closed to avoid water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.
‘This work forms part of the Water and Sanitation Directorate’s pipe replacement programme, which addresses the need for water supply network upgrades, in particular the distribution system to the consumers. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused to the consumers in these areas, but this newly installed pipeline will also optimise the operational performance of the local water supply network in the area,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Water and Sanitation Councillor Zahid Badroodien.
The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused.
