City advises of emergency repairs in Kraaifontein and Joostenbergvlakte areas

The City’s Water and Sanitation Department is attending to emergency repairs to its 750mm diameter water supply main, which was damaged by a contractor in Kraaifontein this morning. This has resulted in the shutting down of water supply to the Kraaifontein and Joostenbergvlakte areas. This is to allow the maintenance crew to do the repairs safely. Various options have been explored to reroute alternate water supply as far as possible within the supply network.

‘Most areas in Kraaifontein and Joostenbergvlakte areas will experience low water pressure as a result of the rerouted supply and some will have no water as a result of the limitations for rerouting water supply in the network. The City regrets the current situation and is doing its level-best to complete the repairs in the shortest possible timeframe. We sincerely thank the consumers in the affected areas for their patience during this period of inconvenience. The City will be addressing the matter with the contractor in due course,’ said Councillor Zahid Badroodien, Mayoral Committee Member for Water and Sanitation.
 
Consumers are kindly requested to ensure that their taps are closed during this period to prevent any water loss and/or damage when the water supply is restored.

A water tanker will be deployed where required.
 
The City regrets the inconvenience caused, and appreciates residents’ cooperation as it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to the benefit of its consumers.
