Kristo Pienaar Environmental Education Centre - Tygerberg Nature Reserve
About
We believe that through environmental education, we will form partnerships to conserve, protect, nurture and care for our environment and invoke in the youth and community a sense of environmental pride and responsibility that promotes environmentally sustainable lifestyles, behaviour and actions.
The Kristo Pienaar Environmental Education Centre, based at Tygerberg Nature Reserve, is a popular, well-run venue that can host 100 people standing or 90 seated. It is used for environmental education and holiday programmes as well as overnight camps. Lessons on a variety of topics are offered, including biodiversity, birds, ecology and invasive species or designed for a groups needs. The hall can also be booked for conferences and meetings; however it is not zoned for social events.
The Kristo Pienaar EE centre contains a resource centre, with a library and a well kept herbarium, useful for learners and students needing information. Displays in the foyer are changed regularly to specific themes and world environmental days.
