We are considering the lease of City-owned property in Goodwood, and we want to hear from you.

About

In accordance with section 16.5 and 16.6 of the Management of certain of the City of Cape Town’s Immovable Property Policy (adopted by Council on 26 August 2010 C54/08/10) and Chapter 4 of the Municipal Asset Transfer Regulations (2008) we are considering the lease of the following City-owned property:

We plan to lease the property to Goodwood Wrestling Club or its successors-in-title for sport and recreational purposes.

Information statement

  • The reason for the proposal to grant a long-term right to use control or manage the relevant asset – Granting the proposed lease will generate an annual rental income for the City.
  • The expected benefit to the municipality that may result from the granting of the right – The City will benefit from this proposed lease, as the City’s premises will be utilised/maintained as well as revenue generated.
  • The expected proceeds to be received by the Municipality resulting from the granting of the right – The City will receive the proceeds of a rental income of R1 386.00 (including VAT) per annum.
  • The expected gain or loss that will be realised or incurred by the Municipality arising from the granting of right – No loss will be incurred by the City arising from the granting of right.
  • The advert also includes a call for alternative proposals.

In terms of section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, you can submit comments to the municipality in respect of the proposed lease.
