Comment on the proposed leases, lease renewals and encroachments of a minor nature for various categories of City-owned property

We are considering applications for the lease, renewal of leases, and encroachments of a minor nature in respect of City-owned immovable property across all areas for the 2026/27 financial year (1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027), and we want to hear from you.

About

In accordance with section 16.5 and 16.6 of the Management of certain of the City of Cape Town’s Immovable Property Policy (adopted by Council on 26 August 2010 C54/08/10) and Chapter 4 of the Municipal Asset Transfer Regulations (2008) we are considering applications for the lease, renewal of leases, and encroachments of a minor nature in respect of City-owned immovable property.

Outdoor seatingLeases and lease renewals for outside seating purposes at a market-related rental.
Non-viable leases (Gardening and security purposes)
Leases and lease renewals of non-viable portion(s) of municipal land
at a tariff rental as approved by Council annually.
Encroachments of a minor nature
Leases and renewals for minor encroachments onto City-owned land

The specific details relating to individual transactions will be communicated to the Subcouncil Manager, Subcouncil Chairperson, Ward Councillor and abutting land owners.

Notifications will be posted on notice boards at the Property Transactions Regional Offices:
