The names of our streets, places, and public spaces should reflect this diversity in a way that is recognisable, inclusive, and meaningful to all. <br></p></div> | <h2 class="sectHeading">Requirements<br></h2><p>Proposals to name or rename an existing building, park, street, or other public facility may be submitted by members of the public, community organisations, or by the City Council.</p><p>All proposals are considered in line with the City’s
<a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Naming%20Policy%20of%20the%20City%20of%20Cape%20Town%20-%20approved%20on%2029%20August%202012.pdf" target="_blank">Naming Policy</a>. </p><p>You will need to complete and submit the Naming Policy Application Form before your request can be considered.<br></p><div class="lrg-icon-content bordered"><div class="lrg-icon lrg-check"><p>
<b>To submit a proposal, you must:</b></p><ul><li>Complete Annexure A: Naming Application Form.<br></li><li>Provide supporting research: When completing Part 3 of the application form, include relevant research or evidence to support the proposed name. This is particularly important where the proposal seeks to honour an individual. </li><li>Attach proof of community support: Submit evidence of community consultation or support, as outlined in Section 7.3 of the Naming Policy, for example:<br>Petitions or referendums (Optional:
