Field and pitch

Many of our sport and recreation centres offer facilities and equipment for cricket, rugby, soccer, and more. Find out more about our field and pitch sports programmes below.

Baseball

Play baseball with us. You’ll learn how to hold a bat, throw a curveball, and catch with a mitt. We currently run baseball sessions from the Joe Slovo Sport and Recreation Centre. Please visit the facility page for the programme schedule.

Competitive cricket

Many of our facilities have cricket equipment and offer the sport as part of the City’s Afterschool Programme. Some offer indoor soccer, with smaller balls, others have courts or fields and organise five-a-side games. Cricket practice for various ages is on offer, and there is a well-equipped field where cricket practice and matches take place. The team is run by a trained coach and plays against other cricket league teams in the area.

Soccer

Soccer workshops
Learn basic soccer skills and improve your game by attending our Outdoor Soccer Workshop. The workshop is run by volunteers from the community and may include other games and activities such as rope pulling, cricket, and face painting. The facilities where the workshops take place will let the community know when the next round is happening, so be sure to sign up to attend! Boys and girls of various ages are welcome.

Soccer games

The Valhalla Football club
The Valhalla Football Club trains soccer players on and off season. It forms part of the Western Cape Soccer League. the club currently trains at the Valhalla Multipurpose Centre. For club times, visit the facility page for the programmes schedule.

Competitive rugby

Some of our facilities have rugby equipment for community members who would like to play an informal game. The team is run by a trained coach and plays against rugby league teams in the area.
