Ball and court sports

Some of our sport and recreation centres offer facilities for ball and court activities such as basketball, netball and bowling.

Badminton

Badminton can be played with two or more players and involves hitting a shuttlecock over a high net. Some of our facilities have badminton equipment and instructors.

Basketball

A number of our facilities have basketball hoops and either indoor or outdoor courts. Play against a few friends or organise a team and take part in tournaments with other facilities. Some centres provide trained basketball coaches to coach players involved in this popular sport. Alternatively, ask a volunteer at the facility, who is familiar with the game, to referee the game.

Bowling

Bowling can be a fun team sport for those who enjoy physical activity. We have bowling equipment including bowling balls, lanes and pins.

Bowling takes place at Zolani Sport and Recreation Centre. Please visit the facility page for the programme schedule.

Handball

Some of our facilities have handball equipment, as well as instructors who teach members of the facility how to play. Many of the centres take part in an annual tournament at the German School.

Netball

Many of our facilities have netball hoops and balls. Depending on the facility, games either take place indoors in a hall or outdoors on a court. Some facilities that have created an unofficial netball union where children and youth from the area play against each other for fun. All community members are welcome to join in.

Volleyball

Some of our centres have volleyball equipment. Play on a volleyball team or just against a friend for fun.
