<h2 class="sectHeading">About the City Map Viewer</h2>
<p>With map identity and a navigation, zooming and panning facility, our map viewer offers easy access to spatial details across the metro.<br></p>
<p>The map viewer uses layers to create different features on the map. This includes City facilities, properties, districts, zoning, active Building Development Management (BDM), Land Use Cases and more. These layers can be switched on and off using the layer list menu available on the map.</p>

<h2 class="sectHeading">Building Development Management and zoning</h2> </span>
<p>All properties within the geographic area of the City are part of our integrated zoning scheme and are subject to land use provisions in the
<a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/work%20and%20business/planning-portal/regulations-and-legislations/the-city-of-cape-towns-development-management-scheme">Development Management Scheme (DMS)</a>, (Schedule 3 of the
<a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/City%20of%20Cape%20Town%20Municipal%20Planning%20By-law%202015.pdf" target="_blank">Municipal Planning By-law, 2015</a>). You may also want to read the
<a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Municipal%20Planning%20Amendment%20By-law%202016.pdf" target="_blank">Municipal Planning Amendment By-law, 2016</a> and

<h2 class="sectHeading">How to view zoning information</h2> </span>
<p>In order to view zoning information for an area, you will need to make sure that the following layers are ticked on the layer list in order to view the zoning data:</p>
<ul><li>Themes</li><li>Land administration<br></li><li>Zoning scheme</li><li>Zoning</li></ul>
<p>All properties are colour coded according to the zoning scheme. The key can be viewed from the zoning dropdown checkbox in the layer list menu.</p>
<p>Zoning information is scale dependent, meaning that once the correct layers have been ticked, you must zoom in until the zoning becomes visible.</p>
