Is your myconnect card expiring this month?<p>Commuters can get a new <strong>my</strong>connect card for R22 – either by visiting any MyCiTi station by 31 May 2020, or the Civic Centre station as from 1 June 2020. <br> <br>Although the <strong>my</strong>connect card expires, the Mover Points only expire three years after they have been loaded on the card. Money does not expire and will be transferred to the new <strong>my</strong>connect card immediately, provided that commuters get a new card before the end of May 2020.<br> <br>MyCiTi passengers should please look at the date on the front of the card – shown as ‘Valid thru 05/20’ – to determine whether the card should be replaced.<br> <br>If your card has an expiry date of 05/20:</p><ul><li><div style="text-align:left;">Check your card balance and penalties at any station by tapping your card at the nearby information terminals</div></li><li><div style="text-align:left;">Clear any outstanding penalties at a station kiosk</div></li><li><div style="text-align:left;">Complete a card application form – these can be collected from the kiosk, or downloaded from the website <a href="http://www.myciti.org.za/" target="_blank">www.myciti.org.za</a></div></li><li><div style="text-align:left;">Visit any station kiosk with your expiring card, form, and R22 in cash</div></li><li><div style="text-align:left;">You will receive a new <strong>my</strong>connect card. Any Mover points and money loaded as Standard will be transferred to your new card immediately</div></li></ul><p> <br>If you replace your card after 31 May 2020, you can do so at the Civic Centre station for R22. Mover points will be transferred to your new card immediately, but money loaded as Standard will take up to 32 days to reflect.<br> <br>Remember to check your receipt and your change and store your receipt in a safe place.<br> <br>‘I am urging MyCiTi users to please check their cards. If your card expires this month and you need to travel after 31 May, please buy a new <strong>my</strong>connect card and transfer the Mover Points and money well in advance. Please do not wait until the last day as we need to avoid queues as far as possible during this time.<br> <br>‘When going out to buy a new card, please remember to wear a mask, avoid physical contact by staying at least two metres away from others, avoid touching your face and common surfaces, and wash or sanitise your hands often, including before and after travelling,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, Alderman Felicity Purchase.<br> <br>Commuters with more than one <strong>my</strong>connect card should check all of their cards’ expiry dates.<br> <br>‘I am very well aware of the inconvenience and cost to replace expired cards, especially while we are in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
