City commences with roadworks in Brackenfell
The construction at this intersection will take place in a phased approach to minimise disruptions to traffic. Work is planned for weekdays between 08:00 and 17:00 for a period of approximately eight weeks, weather permitting.

The upgrading of the intersection will improve the traffic flow in the area as the new roundabout will enable free flowing movement on Belami Drive and accommodate the increase in traffic in a more structured system. The new development will also have access from this circle.

‘The Belami Drive road upgrade is an example of how we are continuously implementing solutions to improve our road network and accommodate new developments. Apart from ensuring access to the development, the upgrade will also assist with traffic flow in this area in general,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, Alderman Felicity Purchase.

Road users who frequent the roads in this area should please note the following changes for the duration of the roadworks:

Traffic on Belami Drive will be diverted from the existing lanes to the shoulders of the lanes

Through-traffic on Belami Drive will be controlled by a stop-and-go system allowing one direction of traffic at a time, for approximately one week during the project

Magnifica Street will be closed to through-traffic near the intersection with Belami Drive from 13 November 2020, for a period of three weeks. Access will be provided from Cynaroides Avenue to the Cape Gate Lifestyle Centre and the Cape Gate Villas residential development. All other traffic will be diverted via Nitida and Cynaroides Avenues.

Road users are advised that the work areas will be temporarily demarcated to regulate traffic flow.

‘We do not expect congestion, but I recommend that road users consider making use of alternative routes if possible as roadworks usually go involves some level of inconvenience. I thank residents for their patience and cooperation while we are busy with the upgrade,’ said Alderman Purchase.

End

2020-10-20T22:00:00ZGP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891dGP0|#762de267-90ad-4660-8493-5085a227187c;L0|#0762de267-90ad-4660-8493-5085a227187c|Transport;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb;GPP|#849c71d3-ed9d-4ce2-89f6-03e9c6f179ef;GPP|#ed82ebba-eb32-4b9a-99c9-da3e081869a610
