Caring for your mask an easy task

‘Yesterday I visited minibus-taxi facilities in Mfuleni, Site C and Nonqubela in Khayelitsha, and Wynberg. I’ve met commuters and informal traders and we spoke about COVID-19 and the impact this is having on our lives. With the new normal all of us must wear a mask or cloth to cover our nose and mouth when we venture outside of our homes. We can limit the spread of COVID-19 by following a few simple rules, such as practising social distancing, by washing our hands often with soap and water, using hand sanitiser where it is available, and to avoid touching common surfaces and not to touch our faces with unwashed hands.

‘Commuters are reminded that the wearing of a mask or cloth is compulsory for anybody wanting to board a minibus-taxi, MyCiTi bus, or any other form of public transport. Taking care of our masks is a vital task and simple to do if you know how. I’ve assisted Transport officials with putting up posters at minibus-taxi facilities in Mfuleni, Site C and Nonqubela in Khayelitsha, and Wynberg. The posters give the public tips on how to care for a mask – these must be washed after it has been used, left to dry, ironed if possible, and should never be shared. As one City together, we can keep ourselves and our loved ones safe,’ said Alderman Purchase.

End2020-06-18T22:00:00ZGP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891dGP0|#ce03aded-5ee9-4610-9ef4-c0b676e202ea;L0|#0ce03aded-5ee9-4610-9ef4-c0b676e202ea|MyCiTi;GTSet|#2e3de6c1-9951-4747-8f53-470629a399bb;GP0|#42a5cfbc-fbfc-4ba8-9ff9-65b6e2a2d27d;L0|#042a5cfbc-fbfc-4ba8-9ff9-65b6e2a2d27d|Hygiene1
