Melkbaai Beach
Melkbaai is best for swimming and long leisurely walks. The water is shallow for a long way out, making it safe for children. Lifeguards from the local club keep watch during peak periods. The beach is also a launch site for Hobie Cat sailors, surfski paddlers and kitesurfers, while the main spot for surfers – called Pipe – is at the western end, near the mouth of the Lourens River.
GP0|#4f97464e-7b95-401b-a7de-5608e592ff97;L0|#04f97464e-7b95-401b-a7de-5608e592ff97|Safe swimming;GTSet|#153637b8-411d-4bf7-8214-7237f5d775f0;GP0|#b0341be0-21cc-4396-b99d-5d2f2853ace6;L0|#0b0341be0-21cc-4396-b99d-5d2f2853ace6|Water sports;GP0|#fdc84c3f-ec13-447d-b71e-a1d4aac85f75;L0|#0fdc84c3f-ec13-447d-b71e-a1d4aac85f75|Lifeguards and lifesaving
Please see the Recreation and Parks Tariffs Booklet in the document download section below for more information about booking a facility.

General enquiries

Telephone:
021 850 4089

District office

Telephone:
021 370 3660 / 021 370 3666
GP0|#6fb82646-b411-48e6-b0d4-52898add42c8;L0|#06fb82646-b411-48e6-b0d4-52898add42c8|Parking;GTSet|#4be4596d-cdfe-41f7-a569-9d9c4e16c716;GP0|#5ae14e6f-bd9f-4386-99c8-08b378f44c98;L0|#05ae14e6f-bd9f-4386-99c8-08b378f44c98|Tidal pool;GP0|#567053b6-5896-4426-814d-af0276bc3698;L0|#0567053b6-5896-4426-814d-af0276bc3698|Disability access;GP0|#27960798-9df1-42d6-ba3f-d1be167a4a8f;L0|#027960798-9df1-42d6-ba3f-d1be167a4a8f|Lifeguards;GP0|#b1b8ebb5-98fd-44d8-8d5f-fc9433daab5e;L0|#0b1b8ebb5-98fd-44d8-8d5f-fc9433daab5e|ToiletsBeach Road, Strand
