MATTERS RECEIVING ATTENTION

The Subcouncil manager provided updates on outstanding matters.

UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED that the following comments be noted and that item 16
SUB 12/3/19 BE REMOVED from the MRA list.

1)16 SUB 66/08/13 MOTION: APPOINTMENT OF OUTSIDE CONTRACTOR TO MANAGE GREENMARKET SQUARE

This item remains outstanding. The situation remains the same. Further meetings were held with senior counsel to discuss the brief. The toilet repairs
have been actioned, the night guard and 12 operating during the day activated.
Further meetings were held with Property management to investigate alternative contracting.

2)16 SUB 42/11/14 MOTION: PROPOSED REFURBISHMENT AND RELOCATION OF THE LIGHTFOOT MEMORIAL FOUNTAIN

Email from Dimitri d/d 7/05/19: The memorial restoration work is completed. The tiled mosaics are underway and should be completed by the end of June.

3)16 SUB 40/10/17 MOTION OF EXIGENCY: FOR THE INSTALLATION OF STREET LIGHTS IN DESIRED AREAS HOUT BAY

Email from Shaun Kemp d/d 7/05/19: The material and PO have been issued to the contractor. We have a site meeting scheduled for this coming Thursday 10 May, and the contractor should start Friday or Monday with the work.

4)16 SUB 18/02/18: RECREATION AND PARKS REPORT ON THE LEASE
RATIONALIZATION PROJECT FOR THE LEASING AND MANAGEMENT OF
ITS SPORTING AND COMMUNITY FACILITIES

An integrated list of sporting facilities leased from the City, were submitted. It was agreed that this list be circulated to councilors for scrutiny.

5)16 SUB 49/02/18: RESPONSE FROM TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT TO THE
REQUEST FOR TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURE: SIDMOUTH AVENUE, ORANJEZICHT

Mr Coetsee advised that Mr Deon Manuel submitted possible traffic calming options. An urgent response on the way forward was required from the ward councilor. Cllr Golding indicated that he would be liaising with Mr Manuel.

6)16 SUB 06/05/18: C13.84076 – F2 CITY DEPOT CBD – NEW – RESTORATION OF JAZZ WORKSHOP BUILDING

Cllr Bryant requested that a proposed commencement date be submitted.

7 16 SUB 3/12/18 MOTION FOR THE INSTALLION OF STREET LIGHTS IN SCOTT’S ESTATE HOUT BAY

Work will commence in the new financial year.

8) 16 SUB 41/1/19 MOTION OF EXIGENCY CITY OF CAPE TOWN TO INITIATE URGENT REPAIRS TO ADDERLEY STREET FOUNTAIN

Email from Ms R Buerger: Investigations to reinstate as is, are underway. This
dependent on whether it is possible, given the extent of vandalism.
This will be done in the next Financial Year 2019/20.Facilities will commence with longer term water efficient redesign and appoint Structural /Civil Engineers to advise. The source of funding to be established.

Facilities are committed to reinstate same as we are aware that in terms of Urbanism, fountains are a tourist attraction.

Subcouncil 16 requested that Ms Buerger be present at the next meeting to present timelines and a plan of action.
